Another year is slowly nearing the end (there are only 50 days left!), which always puts me in a reflective mood. What did I learn in 2016? What should my goals be for 2017? While pondering thusly, I realised that one of the most important things I will take away from this year is a new routine: my morning smoothie.
This simple, healthy habit has become the solution to many of the issues I have been struggling with – creating a morning routine I can stick with, actually having breakfast (I used to just skip it), and finding a breakfast that is quick, easy to make, healthy, tasty, gluten free and affordable.
A tall order, you might say!
I came up with this idea because I wanted a healthy start to my day, but I also needed something that was quick and easy. This yummy, green smoothie is the perfect answer. It only takes a few minutes to make (you can probably do it in one minute if you haven’t got a monkey who loves naners), it is full of nutrition, naturally gluten free and it tastes amazing! Plus, it is surprisingly filling, so it is a great way to start your day. It is also very easy to vary, depending on which ingredients you throw into your blender.
But the most magical thing about it is that I’ve managed to turn it into a morning routine – I have enjoyed having this yummy smoothie for breakfast for 2 months now.
